HOUSE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
Representatives wish to congratulate Litesa Wallace on the
occasion of earning her Doctor of Education in educational
psychology from Northern Illinois University in May of 2013;
and
WHEREAS, Litesa Wallace has resided in Rockford for over 7
years; she has contributed to her community through
volunteering for community organizations, being involved in
civic efforts, and educating; she teaches many subjects,
including sociology, career planning, college reading, and
educational psychology at such institutions as University of
Wisconsin - Whitewater, Northern Illinois University, and City
Colleges of Chicago; and
WHEREAS, Litesa Wallace holds a bachelor's degree in
individual studies from Western Illinois University and a
master's degree in applied family and child studies with a
specialization in marriage and family therapy from Northern
Illinois University; she holds a graduate certificate in
advanced quantitative methods in education; she was also a
doctoral fellow in the Diversifying Higher Education Faculty in
Illinois Fellowship Program; and

WHEREAS, Litesa Wallace's dissertation was titled "The
Relationship Between Racial Identity, Perceived Racial
Discrimination, and the Academic Self-concept of
African-American College Men: A Mixed-Methods Examination";
she presented part of her study at the National Conference on
Race and Ethnicity in American Higher Education in San
Francisco, California; and
WHEREAS, Litesa Wallace has been the recipient of the
Graduate Leadership Award in University Programming and
Activities from Northern Illinois University; and
WHEREAS, Litesa Wallace has developed and facilitated a
women's empowerment workshop for Family Services of Southern
Wisconsin and Northern Illinois, Inc.; she has also been
heavily involved in the Black Graduate Student Association at
Northern Illinois University and has served as a counselor at
Rock Valley College and Rosecrance; and
WHEREAS, Litesa Wallace has served the people of this State
faithfully as chief of staff for Illinois State Representative
Chuck Jefferson; in this capacity, she provides casework
assistance to members of the community and performs numerous
community outreach initiatives; and
WHEREAS, Litesa Wallace serves as a model of hard work,

integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of
Illinois; therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
we congratulate Litesa Wallace on her many achievements and
contributions to the Rockford community and the State of
Illinois and for earning her doctoral certificate; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
presented to Litesa Wallace as a symbol of our esteem and
respect.
