| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives are pleased to congratulate Lieutenant Gary | ||||||
| 4 | Bober of West Dundee on the occasion of his retirement from the | ||||||
| 5 | Streamwood Fire Department on December 30, 2011, after over 34 | ||||||
| 6 | years of service; and
| ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, Gary Bober began his firefighter career in West | ||||||
| 8 | Dundee in 1976 as a Paid-On-Call Firefighter; he continued to | ||||||
| 9 | work as a Paid-On-Call for West Dundee until 1983; in 1978, he | ||||||
| 10 | was hired as a career firefighter in Maywood; he resigned from | ||||||
| 11 | Maywood when he was hired by the Streamwood Fire Department on | ||||||
| 12 | August 14, 1978; and
| ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, Gary Bober steadily ascended the ranks of the | ||||||
| 14 | Streamwood Fire Department; he was promoted to the rank of | ||||||
| 15 | lieutenant on July 20, 1988; he also served as the dive master | ||||||
| 16 | of the Department in the 1980s and developed a HazMat team | ||||||
| 17 | involving area fire departments in 1985; and
| ||||||
| 18 | WHEREAS, Gary Bober earned numerous State of Illinois | ||||||
| 19 | Certifications during his career; on April 20, 1983, he was | ||||||
| 20 | awarded the "Firefighter III" certificate; on September 29, | ||||||
| 21 | 1984, he achieved "Fire Apparatus Engineer"; on October 2, | ||||||
| 22 | 1989, he earned "HazMat Technician" status; on July 7, 1989, he | ||||||

| |||||||
| 1 | earned "Certified Instructor II"; on January 23, 1992, he | ||||||
| 2 | received "Certified Fire Officer I"; on March 12, 2010, he | ||||||
| 3 | earned "Hazmat Incident Command"; and
| ||||||
| 4 | WHEREAS, Gary Bober earned numerous accolades from the | ||||||
| 5 | Streamwood Fire Department for his meritorious service, | ||||||
| 6 | including the "Disaster Service Medal" on February 28, 1999 for | ||||||
| 7 | participating in 3 structure fires and the "Meritorious Service | ||||||
| 8 | Award" on June 6, 1999 for rescuing a victim from a residential | ||||||
| 9 | structure fire; and
| ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, Gary Bober and his wife, Anna, have 2 daughters, | ||||||
| 11 | Tracey and Jill; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 12 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 13 | NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 14 | we congratulate Gary Bober on the occasion of his retirement | ||||||
| 15 | and wish him many happy and healthy retirement years; and be it | ||||||
| 16 | further

| 17 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 18 | presented to Gary Bober as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
