| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives are pleased to congratulate Central Catholic | ||||||
4 | High School on its recognition by the United States Department | ||||||
5 | of Education as a 2017 National Blue Ribbon School; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Central Catholic High School was nominated for | ||||||
7 | this award by The Council for American Private Education; out | ||||||
8 | of the 33,000 private schools in the nation, only 50 received | ||||||
9 | the 2017 National Blue Ribbon award and only six percent of | ||||||
10 | schools in the nation have ever been named a National Blue | ||||||
11 | Ribbon School; Central Catholic High School, an exemplary | ||||||
12 | high-performing school, is the first and only high school in | ||||||
13 | Bloomington-Normal to receive this recognition; and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, Central Catholic High School is a comprehensive, | ||||||
15 | co-educational, four-year high school with a | ||||||
16 | college-preparatory emphasis within a Christ-centered | ||||||
17 | environment; the standardized test scores of the students are | ||||||
18 | among the top 15 percent in the nation; for the past two years, | ||||||
19 | the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) has presented every | ||||||
20 | Central Catholic athletic team with the IHSA Team Academic | ||||||
21 | Award, which is given to teams who average at least a 3.0 grade | ||||||
22 | point average during their season of play; and

1 | WHEREAS, In 2017, in their index of "America's Most | ||||||
2 | Challenging High Schools," the Washington Post ranked Central | ||||||
3 | Catholic High School as the most challenging high school in the | ||||||
4 | state of Illinois, south of Chicago and its suburbs; students | ||||||
5 | acquire twenty-first century skills and graduate as | ||||||
6 | college-ready young men and women; and
| ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, This recognition is a reflection of the hard work | ||||||
8 | of the faculty and staff, both past and present, who believe in | ||||||
9 | the mission of Central Catholic High School and who come to | ||||||
10 | work every day ready to make a difference in the lives of their | ||||||
11 | students; therefore, be it

12 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
13 | HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
14 | congratulate Central Catholic High School on its 2017 National | ||||||
15 | Blue Ribbon School recognition, and we recognize the dedication | ||||||
16 | of the faculty and staff to its students; and be it further

17 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be sent | ||||||
18 | to Sean Foster, Principal of Central Catholic High School as an | ||||||
19 | expression of our esteem and respect.
