| 1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION

| 2 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 3 | HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 4 | the Rules of the House of Representatives of the 101st General | ||||||
| 5 | Assembly are amended by adding Rule 9.5 as follows:

| 6 | (House Rule 9.5 new)
| ||||||
| 7 | 9.5. Memorial Day.
| ||||||
| 8 | (a) Notwithstanding any provision of these Rules to the | ||||||
| 9 | contrary, the Speaker shall not convene the House in regular or | ||||||
| 10 | perfunctory session after 4:00 p.m. on the day before Memorial | ||||||
| 11 | Day or before 4:00 p.m. on Memorial Day. | ||||||
| 12 | (b) On a regular session day reasonably close to Memorial | ||||||
| 13 | Day, the Speaker shall include in the business on the Daily | ||||||
| 14 | Calendar for that session a remembrance ceremony for Memorial | ||||||
| 15 | Day to honor those who gave the ultimate sacrifice in defense | ||||||
| 16 | of our nation. | ||||||
| 17 | (c) This Rule may not be suspended.
