HOUSE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Reverend
Manuel G. "Manny" G�mez Reza of Carpentersville, who passed
away on December 26, 2019; and
WHEREAS, Father G�mez Reza was born in S�chil, Durango,
M�xico to Manuel G�mez Fern�ndez and Julia Reza Serrato on
December 2, 1983; he attended Minor Seminary in Durango, M�xico
from 1998 to 2001; he attended Major Seminary in Durango,
M�xico from 2001 to 2008, where he received a bachelor's in
Philosophy in 2008; he came to the United States in 2010; he
attended the St. Paul School of Divinity in St. Paul, Minnesota
from 2010 to 2013; and
WHEREAS, Father G�mez Reza was ordained to the priesthood
by Bishop David J. Malloy at the Cathedral of St. Peter in
Rockford on June 22, 2013; he served as a Parochial Vicar at
St. Mary in Huntley, St. Rita of Cascia in Aurora, and most
recently at St. Monica in Carpentersville; he was also
Associate Vocation Director and Assistant Diocesan Master of
Ceremonies for the Rockford Diocese; in addition, he served as
Spiritual Director for the Hispanic Catholic Cursillo movement
for the diocese; and

WHEREAS, Father G�mez Reza was remembered by friends as
being open, friendly, engaging, and able to relate to people of
all ages; he was well loved by his family, his brother priests,
and the people he served in his parish assignments; and
WHEREAS, Father G�mez Reza is survived by his parents; his
sisters, Rosa Guadalupe G�mez Reza, Socorro G�mez Reza, Ana
Mar�a G�mez Reza, and Ang�lica Mar�a G�mez Reza; his brother,
Jes�s Javier G�mez Reza; and many relatives in Mexico and in
Chicago; therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
we mourn the passing of Reverend Manuel G. "Manny" G�mez Reza
and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and
all who knew and loved him; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
presented to the family of Father G�mez Reza as an expression
of our deepest sympathy.
