HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate Sister Michelle Germanson
4on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of her taking her first
5vows as a Sinsinawa Domincan; and
6 WHEREAS, Sr. Germanson has served as the President of
7Trinity High School in River Forest for 23 years, beginning in
81992; prior to coming to Trinity, she was Dean of Students at
9Rosary College (Dominican University) from 1987 to 1992; and
10 WHEREAS, Sr. Germanson's order, Sinsinawa Dominican,
11founded Trinity High School in 1918; and
12 WHEREAS, Sr. Germanson received her Bachelor of Arts in
13Education from Edgewood College in Madison, Wisconsin in 1969;
14she holds 3 master's degrees, one in school administration and
15one in guidance and counseling from Loras College and one in
16pastoral studies from Loyola University; and
17 WHEREAS, Sr. Germanson has 20 years of experience in
18elementary education, 9 years as a principal and 11 years as a
19teacher; she currently serves on the Board of Directors of
20Saint Mary's of Notre Dame and is a past member of the Board of
21Directors of Dominican University; and

1 WHEREAS, Sr. Germanson was named a "Remarkable Woman" by
2the Chicago Tribune in February of 2015; she was named one of
3the most influential people in River Forest in 1997 and was a
4recipient of the 2006 Impact Award from the Archdiocesan
5Development Council, a Bernardin Medal Recipient from the Amate
6House in May of 2007, a recipient of the Trinitarian Award from
7Trinity High School in 2012, and a recipient of the "Honoring
8the Profession" Award from the Dominican University Graduate
9School of Education in April of 2012; and
10 WHEREAS, Sr. Germanson enjoys playing golf and cards,
11attending musicals and movies, and is a fan of the Chicago
12Cubs, Bears, Bulls, and Blackhawks; therefore, be it
13 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
14NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
15congratulate Sister Michelle Germanson on the 50th anniversary
16of her taking her first vows as a Sinsinawa Domincan; and be it
17further
18 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to Sr. Germanson as an expression of our esteem and
20respect.
