HOUSE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
Representatives wish to congratulate Sister Michelle Germanson
on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of her taking her first
vows as a Sinsinawa Domincan; and
WHEREAS, Sr. Germanson has served as the President of
Trinity High School in River Forest for 23 years, beginning in
1992; prior to coming to Trinity, she was Dean of Students at
Rosary College (Dominican University) from 1987 to 1992; and
WHEREAS, Sr. Germanson's order, Sinsinawa Dominican,
founded Trinity High School in 1918; and
WHEREAS, Sr. Germanson received her Bachelor of Arts in
Education from Edgewood College in Madison, Wisconsin in 1969;
she holds 3 master's degrees, one in school administration and
one in guidance and counseling from Loras College and one in
pastoral studies from Loyola University; and
WHEREAS, Sr. Germanson has 20 years of experience in
elementary education, 9 years as a principal and 11 years as a
teacher; she currently serves on the Board of Directors of
Saint Mary's of Notre Dame and is a past member of the Board of
Directors of Dominican University; and

WHEREAS, Sr. Germanson was named a "Remarkable Woman" by
the Chicago Tribune in February of 2015; she was named one of
the most influential people in River Forest in 1997 and was a
recipient of the 2006 Impact Award from the Archdiocesan
Development Council, a Bernardin Medal Recipient from the Amate
House in May of 2007, a recipient of the Trinitarian Award from
Trinity High School in 2012, and a recipient of the "Honoring
the Profession" Award from the Dominican University Graduate
School of Education in April of 2012; and
WHEREAS, Sr. Germanson enjoys playing golf and cards,
attending musicals and movies, and is a fan of the Chicago
Cubs, Bears, Bulls, and Blackhawks; therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
congratulate Sister Michelle Germanson on the 50th anniversary
of her taking her first vows as a Sinsinawa Domincan; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
presented to Sr. Germanson as an expression of our esteem and
respect.
