| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
| ||||||
| 3 | Representatives are pleased to congratulate Susan Hoch on
| ||||||
| 4 | receiving the 2017 Best School Blood Drive Coordinator
Award on | ||||||
| 5 | behalf of the Illinois Coalition of Community Blood
Centers; | ||||||
| 6 | and
| ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, In 2007, Susan Hoch began coordinating blood | ||||||
| 8 | drives
on behalf of Bartlett High School; and
| ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, Under Susan Hoch's leadership, over 25 blood | ||||||
| 10 | drives
have been held; and
| ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, Susan Hoch's background as a registered nurse | ||||||
| 12 | gives her a
firsthand understanding of the importance of blood | ||||||
| 13 | donation
which she shares with her students; and
| ||||||
| 14 | WHEREAS, Through Susan Hoch's role in Health
Occupations | ||||||
| 15 | Students of America, she believes it is
important to expose | ||||||
| 16 | students to the many career paths in
the healthcare arena; and
| ||||||
| 17 | WHEREAS, Susan Hoch motivates her students to play a
| ||||||
| 18 | proactive role in the blood drive, including marketing,
| ||||||
| 19 | recruitment, education, and escorting donors to the
| ||||||
| 20 | refreshment area; and
| ||||||

| 1 | WHEREAS, Susan Hoch's blood drive efforts have resulted in | ||||||
| 2 | the
collection of over 1,600 units of blood, which have the
| ||||||
| 3 | potential to save nearly 5,000 lives; and
| ||||||
| 4 | WHEREAS, Susan Hoch was nominated in 2017 by Heartland | ||||||
| 5 | Blood
Centers as the "Best School Blood Drive Coordinator" in a
| ||||||
| 6 | statewide competition hosted by the Illinois Coalition of
| ||||||
| 7 | Community Blood Centers; and
| ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, The results of Susan Hoch's efforts will be
seen | ||||||
| 9 | for years to come because of the critical role high
school | ||||||
| 10 | blood drives play in cultivating lifetime donors; therefore, be | ||||||
| 11 | it
| ||||||
| 12 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 13 | HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
| ||||||
| 14 | commend Susan Hoch for her commitment to insuring a
healthy | ||||||
| 15 | blood supply in her community; and be it further
| ||||||
| 16 | RESOLVED That a suitable copy of the resolution be
| ||||||
| 17 | presented to Susan Hoch as an expression of our esteem and
| ||||||
| 18 | respect.
