HOUSE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
Representatives wish to congratulate Kevin Rutter, Economics
teacher at Carl Schurz High School in Chicago School District
299, on his selection as an Illinois State Board of Education
Finalist for Teacher of the Year; and
WHEREAS, The finalists are selected from nominees through
the Illinois State Board of Education's "Those Who Excel"
education recognition program; and
WHEREAS, Nearly 175 nominations were reviewed this year;
nominations are scored based on personal background
information, the nominator's recommendation, and letters of
recommendation; and
WHEREAS, The announcement for 2009-2010 Illinois Teacher
of the Year will be made during the Those Who Excel banquet on
October 24, 2009; and
WHEREAS, Teachers that earn an Award of Excellence become
finalists for Illinois Teacher of the Year; therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we

congratulate Kevin Rutter on his selection as a finalist for
Teacher of the Year and wish him continued success in his
future endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
presented to Kevin Rutter as a symbol of our respect and
esteem.
