HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to congratulate the people of Elm
4 City Center of Jacksonville as they celebrate the 50th
5 anniversary of Elm City Center; and
6 WHEREAS, Elm City Center was founded in the summer of 1959
7 in an effort to help those in the community with special needs;
8 it has served the Jacksonville area for 50 years by providing
9 work as well as vocational, residential, and social services
10 for people with disabilities; and
11 WHEREAS, Elm City Center has partnered with many
12 nation-wide businesses at the local level to provide employment
13 possibilities that those with disabilities would otherwise not
14 be able to procure; it has multiple residential programs
15 throughout Jacksonville; and
16 WHEREAS, Elm City Center serves over 200 people a day, and
17 has assisted thousands of families who have those with
18 disabilities; and
19 WHEREAS, Elm City Center has been nationally accredited
20 with the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation
21 Facilities since 1972; and

1 WHEREAS, Elm City Center has been an active and engaging
2 member of the community, partnering with countless
3 organizations for the betterment of the Jacksonville area;
4 therefore, be it
5 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
6 NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
7 congratulate the men and women of Elm City Center on this
8 momentous occasion and wish them the best as they continue to
9 serve the Jacksonville area; and be it further
10 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11 presented to Tom Frederick, President and CEO of the Elm City
12 Center, as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
