| 1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION

| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to congratulate Tammy Iskarous on her | ||||||
| 4 | accomplishments as executive director at Riverbend Family | ||||||
| 5 | Ministries; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Tammy Iskarous had a vision to serve families in | ||||||
| 7 | the Riverbend area who were affected by crisis from violence, | ||||||
| 8 | homelessness, addiction or poverty; she opened Riverbend | ||||||
| 9 | Family Ministries (RFM) in Woodriver on August 7, 2007; she | ||||||
| 10 | helped link people to substance abuse treatment, housing, | ||||||
| 11 | medical help, and rental assistance; in its first year, RFM | ||||||
| 12 | served 51 families; and
| ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, Tammy Iskarous worked tirelessly to implement a | ||||||
| 14 | grassroots program called Refuge, which provides free trauma | ||||||
| 15 | counseling for children exposed to abuse, neglect, and other | ||||||
| 16 | forms of adverse trauma; RFM also teaches anger management and | ||||||
| 17 | parenting classes; and
| ||||||
| 18 | WHEREAS, Today, RFM provides services to everyone living in | ||||||
| 19 | Madison County; in 2016, more than 1,700 local families were | ||||||
| 20 | helped; currently, the mid-year report shows more than 950 | ||||||
| 21 | families have received help; and

| 1 | WHEREAS, Tammy Iskarous volunteers the equivalent of a | ||||||
| 2 | full-time work schedule; she works without pay and has faith | ||||||
| 3 | and hope for everyone with whom she comes in contact; and
| ||||||
| 4 | WHEREAS, Tammy Iskarous is active in her church; she hosts | ||||||
| 5 | small groups at her home and serves the local community; her | ||||||
| 6 | positive attitude and her love for her family and community are | ||||||
| 7 | contagious; everyone who meets Tammy leaves her presence | ||||||
| 8 | wanting to be a better person; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 9 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 10 | HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
| 11 | recognize Tammy Iskarous and her dedication to helping those in | ||||||
| 12 | crisis; and be it further
| ||||||
| 13 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 14 | presented to Tammy Iskarous as a symbol of our respect and | ||||||
| 15 | esteem.
