| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to congratulate Carol Bauer on the | ||||||
| 4 | occasion of receiving the "2013 Most Dedicated Blood Drive | ||||||
| 5 | Coordinator Award" from the Illinois Coalition of Community | ||||||
| 6 | Blood Centers; and
| ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, For over 20 years, Carol Bauer has played a | ||||||
| 8 | significant role in ensuring a safe and adequate blood supply | ||||||
| 9 | for her community through her efforts to promote blood | ||||||
| 10 | donation; and
| ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, In 1993, Carol Bauer began her service as the | ||||||
| 12 | blood drive coordinator for the Village of Lombard on behalf of | ||||||
| 13 | Heartland Blood Centers; and
| ||||||
| 14 | WHEREAS, Since that time, Carol Bauer has increased the | ||||||
| 15 | number of units collected by blood drives in the Village of | ||||||
| 16 | Lombard from double to triple digits; and
| ||||||
| 17 | WHEREAS, Carol Bauer has successfully built partnerships | ||||||
| 18 | with local organizations and businesses to form blood donor | ||||||
| 19 | groups, who host their own blood drives in conjunction with | ||||||
| 20 | those of the Village; and
| ||||||

| 1 | WHEREAS, Carol Bauer helps to heighten awareness of Village | ||||||
| 2 | blood drives by encouraging donors to sign up at community | ||||||
| 3 | events, such as weekly Car Cruise Nights, as well as through | ||||||
| 4 | Village press releases, water bill inserts, fire station | ||||||
| 5 | banners, cable television interviews, and even her e-mail | ||||||
| 6 | signature; and
| ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, Following the untimely death of the late Lombard | ||||||
| 8 | Village President Mueller, who was a huge supporter of blood | ||||||
| 9 | donation, Carol Bauer organized an additional memorial blood | ||||||
| 10 | drive in his honor at 2 locations, bringing the number of blood | ||||||
| 11 | drives held in Lombard in the past year to 13; and
| ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, Carol Bauer has served as the chairperson of 113 | ||||||
| 13 | blood drives, which have collected 11,187 pints of blood; those | ||||||
| 14 | pints of blood have had the potential to save almost 33,600 | ||||||
| 15 | lives; and
| ||||||
| 16 | WHEREAS, In 2013, Heartland Blood Centers nominated Carol | ||||||
| 17 | Bauer as the "Most Dedicated Blood Drive Coordinator" in a | ||||||
| 18 | state-wide competition hosted by the Illinois Coalition of | ||||||
| 19 | Community Blood Centers; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 20 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 21 | NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 22 | we congratulate Carol Bauer for receiving the "2013 Most | ||||||

| 1 | Dedicated Blood Drive Coordinator Award", commend her for her | ||||||
| 2 | years of selfless service and commitment to the community, and | ||||||
| 3 | wish her continued success in promoting blood donations; and be | ||||||
