| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
| ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to congratulate George Grosso on his 59
| ||||||
| 4 | years of service as a firefighter with the Limestone Township | ||||||
| 5 | Fire
Protection District as well as his dedication and | ||||||
| 6 | commitment to
his local community; and
| ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, George Grosso joined the fire service in 1958 as a
| ||||||
| 8 | rookie; he was appointed to the board of
trustees in September | ||||||
| 9 | of 1981 and is now the treasurer of the
district; and
| ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, George Grosso dedicated countless hours to the
| ||||||
| 11 | repair and maintenance of the department's fire apparatuses,
| ||||||
| 12 | ensuring that the equipment was always ready and in top
| ||||||
| 13 | condition; and
| ||||||
| 14 | WHEREAS, George Grosso is a successful independent | ||||||
| 15 | businessman,
nevertheless, he was always ready to respond to
| ||||||
| 16 | local emergencies, including such historic disasters as the | ||||||
| 17 | week-long
Phillips Petroleum Gas Well Fire, the Limestone | ||||||
| 18 | School
Fire, and the Crescent City Train Derailment; and
| ||||||
| 19 | WHEREAS, George Grosso participated as a trustee in two
| ||||||
| 20 | fire station remodels and expansions and the land
acquisition | ||||||
| 21 | for the construction of a new fire station in
Limestone | ||||||

| 1 | Township; and
| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, George Grosso recently received an Outstanding
| ||||||
| 3 | Community Service Award from the Illinois Association of Fire
| ||||||
| 4 | Protection Districts; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Since 1958, George Grosso has seen the department
| ||||||
| 6 | grow from a small volunteer department to an organization with | ||||||
| 7 | full-time, part-time, and paid on-call firefighters and
| ||||||
| 8 | paramedics; and
| ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, George Grosso epitomizes the best that Illinois
| ||||||
| 10 | has to offer and stands as an example to future generations; | ||||||
| 11 | therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 12 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 13 | HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
| ||||||
| 14 | congratulate George Grosso on his 59 years of dedication and
| ||||||
| 15 | service and that we wish him a happy and fulfilling retirement; | ||||||
| 16 | and be it further
