2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Charles | ||||||
4 | James "Chas" Hudson Jr., who passed away on October 20, 2023; | ||||||
5 | and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Chas Hudson was born to Dr. Charles James Hudson | ||||||
7 | Sr. and Tamara Lydia Hudson on September 18, 1982; as an | ||||||
8 | infant, he was baptized into the Catholic faith; he received | ||||||
9 | his elementary education at St. Thomas the Apostle and St. | ||||||
10 | Joachim, where he graduated; he then attended Paul Laurence | ||||||
11 | Dunbar High School, where he was an integral member of the | ||||||
12 | football team that won the Chicago Citywide Championship in | ||||||
13 | 1997; upon graduation, he attended Alabama State University in | ||||||
14 | Montgomery, Alabama; and
| ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, Chas Hudson pursued a career with railroad | ||||||
16 | companies CSX, Canadian National, and Metra; he was | ||||||
17 | extraordinarily committed to his work, leading him to quickly | ||||||
18 | be promoted to a carman with Metra; he loved his career and the | ||||||
19 | many colleagues who became friends; he remained a proud | ||||||
20 | employee of Metra until his passing; and

21 | WHEREAS, Chas Hudson enjoyed dressing well, fine dining, | ||||||
22 | traveling, and cooking; he learned his cooking and grill |

1 | master skills from his father, grandfathers, and uncles, and | ||||||
2 | he pursued advancing his skills with his brothers and cousins, | ||||||
3 | especially on the weekends during football season; his | ||||||
4 | specialties included ribs, jerk chicken, fried turkey, and | ||||||
5 | macaroni and cheese; his love of cooking eventually led him to | ||||||
6 | catering events for family and friends; and

7 | WHEREAS, Chas Hudson was dedicated to his family and | ||||||
8 | friends; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Chas Hudson was preceded in death by his mother | ||||||
10 | and his grandparents, Booker and Arthemise Washington and | ||||||
11 | Percy and Marie Hudson; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Chas Hudson is survived by his father; his | ||||||
13 | brothers, Dedrek Hudson and Phillip (Tashaunee) Hudson Sr.; | ||||||
14 | his nephew and niece, P.J. Hudson and Tamara Hudson; his | ||||||
15 | great-aunts, Ida Mae Simmons and Inez Moore; his aunts, Ruth | ||||||
16 | Nichols, Hattie White, Dorothy Hudson, Irma Hudson, Bertha | ||||||
17 | Hudson, and Taliva Tillman; his uncles, Clarence (Betty) | ||||||
18 | Hudson, Donald (Kathy) Hudson Sr., Robert Hudson, and Eugene | ||||||
19 | (Corrine) Hudson; his special friend, Nikita St. Clair; and a | ||||||
20 | host of other relatives, friends, and colleagues; therefore, | ||||||
