HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Dean E.
4Ten Bruin Sr., who passed away on April 16, 2023; and
5 WHEREAS, Dean Ten Bruin was born to Ralph and Charlotte
6(Ryan) Ten Bruin in Chicago on February 12, 1948; and
7 WHEREAS, Dean Ten Bruin was raised in Chicago, Colorado
8Springs, Colorado, and Lowell, Indiana, before settling in
9Antioch, where he graduated from Antioch High School in 1965;
10and
11 WHEREAS, Upon graduating, Dean Ten Bruin enlisted in the
12United States Air Force, where he served until he was
13honorably discharged in 1968; and
14 WHEREAS, Dean Ten Bruin married his high school
15sweetheart, Linnea Christensen, on September 19, 1970; their
16marriage produced two children, Ralph and Dean Ten Bruin Jr.;
17and
18 WHEREAS, Dean Ten Bruin was employed at Intermatic, Inc.
19in Spring Grove, where he worked his way up from material
20handler to buyer; after 42 years of service, he retired in

1April of 2013; and
2 WHEREAS, After officially moving to Spring Grove with his
3family in 1976, Dean Ten Bruin served as a volunteer fireman,
4as the president of the Spring Grove School Board, and on the
5Spring Grove Zoning Board of Appeals; and
6 WHEREAS, Dean Ten Bruin enjoyed golfing with his two sons
7as well as bowling and cutting his grass; and
8 WHEREAS, Dean Ten Bruin was a member of the Lutheran
9Church of All Saints and a blood donor at Versiti Blood Bank in
10Crystal Lake; and
11 WHEREAS, Dean Ten Bruin was preceded in death by his
12parents; and
13 WHEREAS, Dean Ten Bruin is survived by his wife, Linnea;
14his children, Ralph and Dean Ten Bruin Jr.; his grandchildren,
15Cooper, Madeline, Riley, and Charlie; his brother, Wayne; his
16sister-in-law, Debbie (John) Lewis; his nieces, Tammy and
17Natalie (Michael) Unes; his aunt, Gloria Lowe; as well as many
18cousins; therefore, be it
19 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
20HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that

1we mourn the passing of Dean E. Ten Bruin Sr. and extend our
2sincere condolences to his family, friends and all who knew
3and loved him; and be it further
4 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
5presented to the family of Dean Ten Bruin as an expression of
6our deepest sympathy.
