HOUSE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Keith
Tate of Chicago, who passed away on December 17, 2018; and
WHEREAS, Keith Tate was the oldest of three children born
to the union of Elwin L. Tate and Ola M. Dixon; he was raised on
the South Side of Chicago in the historic Chatham neighborhood;
and
WHEREAS, Keith Tate graduated from St. Dorothy School and
Hales Franciscan High School; he received his Bachelor of
Science in Business and Administration, with a concentration in
Accounting, from Chicago State University; and
WHEREAS, Keith Tate was actively involved in his community,
where he served as President of the Chatham-Avalon Community
Council for many years and as President of the Hales Franciscan
Alumni Association; and
WHEREAS, Keith Tate was a devoted husband of more than 40
years to his wife Shirley and a devoted father to their two
sons, Marcus and Rawling; and
WHEREAS, Keith Tate had a full career, working for multiple

health care groups and hospitals before retiring from the
University of Chicago after 25 years of employment; he will
forever be remembered for his love of family, friends, and
service to his community; therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
we mourn the passing of Keith Tate and extend our sincere
condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
him; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
presented to the family of Keith Tate as an expression of our
deepest sympathy.
