2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives wish to congratulate Nancy Schueneman on the | ||||||
4 | occasion of being the recipient of the Elgin Cosmopolitan | ||||||
5 | Club's 71st Distinguished Service Award; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Nancy Schueneman has been a lifetime resident of | ||||||
7 | Elgin; after attending Harriet Gifford Elementary, Abbott | ||||||
8 | Middle, and Larkin High Schools, she went on to earn a | ||||||
9 | bachelor's degree in education from Northern Illinois | ||||||
10 | University; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Nancy Schueneman was employed as a teacher at | ||||||
12 | School District 300 and U-46; in 1981, with two small children | ||||||
13 | at home, she co-founded and taught in the "Kids Day Out" | ||||||
14 | Pre-School Program at the Faith United Methodist Church of | ||||||
15 | Elgin; she was an integral part of this innovative program | ||||||
16 | until 1998, when she became the first "Project Access" teacher | ||||||
17 | for U-46; Project Access serves homeless youth throughout the | ||||||
18 | district, striving to keep them in school and by finding the | ||||||
19 | needed resources to support them to accomplish their education | ||||||
20 | goals; and

21 | WHEREAS, Nancy Schueneman has been an active member of | ||||||
22 | numerous community organizations, including District U-46, |

1 | District 300, YWCA Elgin, Jayne Shover Easter Seals, the Elgin | ||||||
2 | Junior Service Board, Altrusa of Elgin, the Larkin PTO, United | ||||||
3 | Way, the All Peoples Inter-Faith Food Pantry, the Greater Elgin | ||||||
4 | Family Care Center, the Sherman Hospital Auxiliary Board, | ||||||
5 | Little Angels, and the First Presbyterian Church of Elgin; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Nancy Schueneman has developed a sterling | ||||||
7 | reputation as a "hands-on" leader and volunteer, often times | ||||||
8 | directly ministering to someone in need; she also believes | ||||||
9 | passionately in her role to give a "hand-up and not just a | ||||||
10 | hand-out"; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Nancy Schueneman serves as a model of hard work, | ||||||
12 | integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of | ||||||
13 | Illinois; therefore, be it

14 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
15 | NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
16 | we congratulate Nancy Schueneman on the occasion of winning the | ||||||
17 | Elgin Cosmopolitan Club's 71st Distinguished Service Award and | ||||||
18 | wish her continued success and happiness in the future; and be | ||||||
19 | it further

20 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
21 | presented to Nancy Schueneman as a symbol of our esteem and | ||||||
