HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate Nancy Schueneman on the
4occasion of being the recipient of the Elgin Cosmopolitan
5Club's 71st Distinguished Service Award; and
6 WHEREAS, Nancy Schueneman has been a lifetime resident of
7Elgin; after attending Harriet Gifford Elementary, Abbott
8Middle, and Larkin High Schools, she went on to earn a
9bachelor's degree in education from Northern Illinois
10University; and
11 WHEREAS, Nancy Schueneman was employed as a teacher at
12School District 300 and U-46; in 1981, with two small children
13at home, she co-founded and taught in the "Kids Day Out"
14Pre-School Program at the Faith United Methodist Church of
15Elgin; she was an integral part of this innovative program
16until 1998, when she became the first "Project Access" teacher
17for U-46; Project Access serves homeless youth throughout the
18district, striving to keep them in school and by finding the
19needed resources to support them to accomplish their education
20goals; and
21 WHEREAS, Nancy Schueneman has been an active member of
22numerous community organizations, including District U-46,

1District 300, YWCA Elgin, Jayne Shover Easter Seals, the Elgin
2Junior Service Board, Altrusa of Elgin, the Larkin PTO, United
3Way, the All Peoples Inter-Faith Food Pantry, the Greater Elgin
4Family Care Center, the Sherman Hospital Auxiliary Board,
5Little Angels, and the First Presbyterian Church of Elgin; and
6 WHEREAS, Nancy Schueneman has developed a sterling
7reputation as a "hands-on" leader and volunteer, often times
8directly ministering to someone in need; she also believes
9passionately in her role to give a "hand-up and not just a
10hand-out"; and
11 WHEREAS, Nancy Schueneman serves as a model of hard work,
12integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of
13Illinois; therefore, be it
14 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
15NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
16we congratulate Nancy Schueneman on the occasion of winning the
17Elgin Cosmopolitan Club's 71st Distinguished Service Award and
18wish her continued success and happiness in the future; and be
19it further
20 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
21presented to Nancy Schueneman as a symbol of our esteem and
22respect.
