| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to congratulate Karl Bollnow on his 50th | ||||||
| 4 | year at the Riverside Golf Club (RGC) and on being inducted | ||||||
| 5 | into the Western Golf Association Caddie Hall of Fame on | ||||||
| 6 | September 17th, 2021; and
| ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, An Oak Park native, Karl Bollnow began his tenure | ||||||
| 8 | at RGC in 1971, at the age of 13, after following some friends | ||||||
| 9 | to the club to look for jobs as caddies; he caddied throughout | ||||||
| 10 | high school and as he attended DePaul University, including | ||||||
| 11 | caddying in the Western Open for champion Tom Watson in 1975; | ||||||
| 12 | and
| ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, Karl Bollnow began working in the golf shop at | ||||||
| 14 | RGC in 1976; he served under the longtime club pro Bill Heald | ||||||
| 15 | for whom a PGA career achievement award is named; the | ||||||
| 16 | following year, he became caddiemaster and, one year after | ||||||
| 17 | that, he became the assistant pro; upon Bill Heald's | ||||||
| 18 | retirement in 1996, he became the head professional and has | ||||||
| 19 | served in that position ever since; and
| ||||||
| 20 | WHEREAS, Karl Bollnow has overseen thousands of young | ||||||
| 21 | people who have moved through the club as caddies, and over 300 | ||||||
| 22 | have gone on to full college scholarships through the Evans | ||||||

| 1 | Scholars program or the club's own Memorial Scholarship | ||||||
| 2 | program; and
| ||||||
| 3 | WHEREAS, Other RGC Hall of Fame members include Bill | ||||||
| 4 | Murray, Peter Ueberroth, Charles Schwab, Jack Nicklaus, Chick | ||||||
| 5 | Evans, and Tom Watson; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 6 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 7 | HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 8 | we wish to congratulate Karl Bollnow on his 50th year at the | ||||||
| 9 | Riverside Golf Club and on being inducted into the Western | ||||||
| 10 | Golf Association Caddie Hall of Fame; and be it further
| ||||||
| 11 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 12 | presented to Karl Bollnow as a symbol of our esteem and | ||||||
| 13 | respect.
