| 1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION
| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to recognize the Milano Bakery on the | ||||||
| 4 | occasion of the 100th anniversary of its founding; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, The Milano Bakery was founded in Chicago in 1915 | ||||||
| 6 | by Mario DeBenedetti, Sr., his sister, Mary, and his | ||||||
| 7 | brother-in-law, Frank Soffianti; it has been located in Joliet | ||||||
| 8 | since 1926; and
| ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, The Milano Bakery has been passed down through | ||||||
| 10 | numerous generations of family members, first from Mario, Sr. | ||||||
| 11 | to Mario, Jr., and it is now operated by brothers, Mario, III | ||||||
| 12 | and Darin; and
| ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, Most employees of the Milano Bakery are family | ||||||
| 14 | members, helping out with pastry baking, wedding cakes, sales, | ||||||
| 15 | and customer service; and
| ||||||
| 16 | WHEREAS, The Milano Bakery has survived the Great | ||||||
| 17 | Depression and other economic downturns throughout the years | ||||||
| 18 | and continues to thrive after over a century in operation; | ||||||
| 19 | therefore, be it

| 20 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||

| 1 | NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
| 2 | recognize the Milano Bakery on its 100th anniversary and we | ||||||
| 3 | wish it many more years of success; and be it further
| ||||||
| 4 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 5 | presented to the DeBenedetti family as an expression of our | ||||||
| 6 | esteem and respect.
