HOUSE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
Representatives are pleased to congratulate Boy Scout Troop 677
on the occasion of its 100th anniversary; and
WHEREAS, In 1913, the Disciples of Christ Church, now known
as Gurnee Community Church, organized and sponsored Scout Troop
1; 100 years later it is now Boy Scout Troop 677; and
WHEREAS, Throughout its history, Troop 677 has been a
familiar presence around the Village of Gurnee; in 1923-1924,
when the church building was moved to its current Grand Avenue
site and additions were made to it, Troop 677 had the honor of
shoveling the first dirt from the new basement site; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the intervening years, Troop 677 has
participated in countless service projects and community
events, including highway clean-ups, Scouting for Food, Gurnee
Days, and Memorial and Veteran's Day remembrance ceremonies;
and
WHEREAS, Troop 677 is proud to have over 70 of its scouts
attain the rank of Eagle Scout, a significant and highly
recognized achievement; and

WHEREAS, A celebration for Troop 677's 100th anniversary
will be held on June 8, 2013, at the Gurnee Community Church;
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
we congratulate Troop 677 on its 100th anniversary, and wish
the troop many more successful years; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
presented to Troop 677 as an expression of our esteem and
respect.
