| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to congratulate Brianna Carey on | ||||||
| 4 | receiving the 2015 Prudential Spirit of Community Award; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Brianna Carey, an esteemed resident of Geneva and | ||||||
| 6 | a student at Geneva Community High School, has achieved | ||||||
| 7 | national recognition for her exemplary volunteer service; and
| ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, This prestigious award, presented by Prudential | ||||||
| 9 | Financial in partnership with the National Association of | ||||||
| 10 | Secondary School Principals, honors young volunteers across | ||||||
| 11 | America who have demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to | ||||||
| 12 | serving their communities; and
| ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, Brianna Carey earned this award by giving | ||||||
| 14 | generously of her time and energy to founding a website to help | ||||||
| 15 | teens all over the world with their emotional struggles called | ||||||
| 16 | "A Cutter's Guardian Angel", which has grown into an | ||||||
| 17 | organization that helps those in need via social media, the | ||||||
| 18 | internet, and community events; she was motivated by her own | ||||||
| 19 | experiences to found the site in 2012 and recently partnered | ||||||
| 20 | with 3 other teens to help coordinate and expand the group, | ||||||
| 21 | which is in the process of applying for nonprofit status; and
| ||||||

| 1 | WHEREAS, The success of the State of Illinois, the strength | ||||||
| 2 | of our communities, and the overall vitality of American | ||||||
| 3 | society depend, in great measure, upon the dedication of young | ||||||
| 4 | people like Brianna Carey who use their considerable talents | ||||||
| 5 | and resources to serve others; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 6 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 7 | NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
| 8 | congratulate and honor Brianna Carey as a recipient of the 2015 | ||||||
| 9 | Prudential Spirit of Community Award; and be it further
| ||||||
| 10 | RESOLVED, That we recognize Brianna Carey's outstanding | ||||||
| 11 | record of volunteer service, peer leadership, and community | ||||||
| 12 | spirit, and we extend best wishes for her continued success and | ||||||
| 13 | happiness; and be it further
