| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives are pleased to congratulate the Southeast High | ||||||
| 4 | School Spartans girls' track & field team on winning their 4th | ||||||
| 5 | consecutive Class 2A State championship on May 18, 2013; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, The Spartans prevailed over their closest | ||||||
| 7 | competitors by an impressive 27-point margin; and
| ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, The Spartans' championship reflects an | ||||||
| 9 | extraordinary team effort, claiming 1st place in 3 events, and | ||||||
| 10 | placing 11 girls in the finals of 14 different events; and
| ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, Southeast student-athletes Justice Collins, | ||||||
| 12 | Charday Crawford, Halle Devoe, Jamari Drake, Kamaria Gage, | ||||||
| 13 | Alexus Henry, Lunden Henry, Shirley Jones, Ceaira McGrone, | ||||||
| 14 | Brion Portis, Zaneta White, and Shauniera Wilson represented | ||||||
| 15 | their school in the State meet; and
| ||||||
| 16 | WHEREAS, Senior Charday Crawford placed 1st in the State in | ||||||
| 17 | the 100-meter dash and 2nd in the 200-meter dash; and
| ||||||
| 18 | WHEREAS, Senior Brion Portis placed 1st in the triple jump | ||||||
| 19 | and 12th in the long jump; and
| ||||||

| 1 | WHEREAS, Senior Halle Devoe placed 3rd in the high jump; | ||||||
| 2 | and
| ||||||
| 3 | WHEREAS, Junior Shauniera Wilson placed 7th in the discus | ||||||
| 4 | throw and 12th in the shot put; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Senior Justice Collins placed 9th in the 100-meter | ||||||
| 6 | high hurdles and 9th in the 300-meter low hurdles; and
| ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, Senior Kamaria Gage placed 11th in the discus | ||||||
| 8 | throw; and
| ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, The 4x200-meter relay team, made up of Ceaira | ||||||
| 10 | McGrone, Shirley Jones, Brion Portis, and Charday Crawford, | ||||||
| 11 | placed 1st in the State; and
| ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, The 4x100 meter relay team, made up of Ceaira | ||||||
| 13 | McGrone, Shirley Jones, Zaneta White, and Charday Crawford, | ||||||
| 14 | placed 2nd in the event; and
| ||||||
| 15 | WHEREAS, The 4x400-meter relay team, made up of Shirley | ||||||
| 16 | Jones, Alexus Henry, Lunden Henry, and Brion Portis, placed 2nd | ||||||
| 17 | in the State; and
| ||||||
| 18 | WHEREAS, Coach Barb Montgomery led her team to the State | ||||||
| 19 | championship in her first year as head coach; and
| ||||||

| 1 | WHEREAS, The teamwork, commitment, and dedication of the | ||||||
| 2 | Spartans during their 4 championship seasons serves as a model | ||||||
| 3 | for all of Illinois; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 4 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 5 | NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 6 | we congratulate the members of the Southeast High School | ||||||
| 7 | Spartans girls' track & field team for their victory and wish | ||||||
| 8 | them continued success in the future; and be it further
| ||||||
| 9 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 10 | presented to the Southeast High School Spartans girls' track & | ||||||
| 11 | field team as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
