| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to congratulate K-9 Dax and Deputy John | ||||||
| 4 | Forlenza of the Lake County Sheriff's Office on Dax being named | ||||||
| 5 | K-9 of the Year by the K9s of Valor Foundation, a nonprofit | ||||||
| 6 | organization dedicated to supporting K-9 officers across the | ||||||
| 7 | country and keeping them safe by donating life-saving and | ||||||
| 8 | essential equipment; and
| ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, Dax and Deputy Forlenza were among the more than | ||||||
| 10 | 100 nominated for the award and were nominated for their many | ||||||
| 11 | successful tracks finding suspected criminals and residents in | ||||||
| 12 | need of help; Dax received more than 9,500 votes from the | ||||||
| 13 | community; and
| ||||||
| 14 | WHEREAS, Dax's top accomplishments include finding a | ||||||
| 15 | missing suicidal woman in the woods on a cold, rainy day and | ||||||
| 16 | finding a domestic violence suspect who forced his way into a | ||||||
| 17 | home and assaulted a woman before she was able to escape; in | ||||||
| 18 | another case, Dax was punched by a robbery suspect, but he was | ||||||
| 19 | still able to take down the suspect; and
| ||||||
| 20 | WHEREAS, Dax and Deputy Forlenza are a perfect example of | ||||||
| 21 | the great things that happen when there is a strong partnership | ||||||
| 22 | between law enforcement officers and the communities they | ||||||

| 1 | serve; from finding missing, endangered people or fleeing | ||||||
| 2 | offenders to showing off their skills at community events, the | ||||||
| 3 | K-9 team takes great pride in serving the Lake County | ||||||
| 4 | Community; therefore, be it

| 5 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 6 | HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 7 | we congratulate K-9 Dax and Deputy John Forlenza on Dax being | ||||||
| 8 | named K-9 of the year by the K9s of Valor Foundation, and we | ||||||
| 9 | recognize their strong partnership with and service to the Lake | ||||||
| 10 | County community and to the State of Illinois; and be it | ||||||
| 11 | further

| 12 | RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be | ||||||
| 13 | presented to Deputy John Forlenza and the Lake County Sheriff's | ||||||
