| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to congratulate Joan Snyder on the | ||||||
| 4 | occasion of her retirement as President of the Central Illinois | ||||||
| 5 | Advocates for Lives Interrupted by Parkinson's Support | ||||||
| 6 | Organization (Calipso); and
| ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, After Joan Snyder was diagnosed with Parkinson's | ||||||
| 8 | disease, she became determined to live her life to the fullest | ||||||
| 9 | and find a cure for this debilitating disease; to this end, she | ||||||
| 10 | created the Central Illinois Advocates for Lives Interrupted by | ||||||
| 11 | Parkinson's Support Organization (Calipso) to advance research | ||||||
| 12 | for Parkinson's disease in central Illinois; and
| ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, Over the last 20 years, Calipso, under the | ||||||
| 14 | leadership of Joan Snyder, has raised over $100,000 to fund | ||||||
| 15 | Parkinson's disease research at Bradley University; and
| ||||||
| 16 | WHEREAS, While raising awareness of Parkinson's disease in | ||||||
| 17 | the Peoria community, Joan Snyder has offered support and | ||||||
| 18 | encouragement to others suffering from this disease from around | ||||||
| 19 | the world; with the support of the Parkinson's Alliance, she | ||||||
| 20 | helped author "Voices from the Parking Lot: Parkinson's | ||||||
| 21 | Insights and Perspectives"; the book, published by the | ||||||
| 22 | Parkinson's Alliance, raises money to help fight the disease, | ||||||

| 1 | but also allows people not suffering from Parkinson's disease | ||||||
| 2 | to learn more about the fight against the disease; and
| ||||||
| 3 | WHEREAS, After over 20 years of spearheading fundraising | ||||||
| 4 | and outreach efforts for Calipso, Joan Snyder has announced her | ||||||
| 5 | retirement from her position as President of the organization; | ||||||
| 6 | and
| ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, Joan Snyder serves as a model of hard work, | ||||||
| 8 | integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of | ||||||
| 9 | Illinois; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 10 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 11 | NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 12 | we congratulate Joan Snyder on the occasion of her retirement | ||||||
| 13 | and wish her continued success and happiness in the future; and | ||||||
| 14 | be it further
