| 2 | WHEREAS, It is highly fitting that the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives pays honor and respect to those who have | ||||||
| 4 | served our country and, in doing so, have made the ultimate | ||||||
| 5 | sacrifice for our nation; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Sergeant First Class Ogden Neil Thompson of | ||||||
| 7 | Aurora served with the U.S. Army as a member of Company G, 2nd | ||||||
| 8 | Battalion, 8th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division; and
| ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, SFC Thompson was listed as Missing in Action | ||||||
| 10 | while fighting the enemy near Unsan, North Korea on November | ||||||
| 11 | 1, 1950; and
| ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, SFC Thompson was presumed dead on December 31, | ||||||
| 13 | 1953; and
| ||||||
| 14 | WHEREAS, The Heroes Way Designation Program through the | ||||||
| 15 | Illinois Department of Transportation honors fallen Illinois | ||||||
| 16 | heroes who have been killed in action while performing active | ||||||
| 17 | military duty with the United States Armed Forces and has | ||||||
| 18 | designated Route 25 in Aurora from Sullivan Road to Ashland | ||||||
| 19 | Avenue as the SFC Ogden N. Thompson Memorial Highway; | ||||||

| 3 | we commend the designation of the SFC Ogden N. Thompson | ||||||
| 4 | Memorial Highway as part of the Heroes Way Designation Program | ||||||
