| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Thomas | ||||||
| 4 | "Tommy" Lee of Chicago, who passed away on February 27, 2020; | ||||||
| 5 | and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Thomas Lee was born in Chicago on November 23, | ||||||
| 7 | 1951; he served in the U.S. Army at Ft. Dixon, New Jersey but | ||||||
| 8 | was otherwise a lifelong Chicagoan; and
| ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, Thomas Lee spent most of his career as an | ||||||
| 10 | employee of AT&T; and
| ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, Thomas Lee was an active member of the American | ||||||
| 12 | Legion Chinatown Post 1003; he was a former commander who had | ||||||
| 13 | been elected to a term in the 1990s; every year during the | ||||||
| 14 | Chinatown Summer Fair, he volunteered at the Post's beer tent; | ||||||
| 15 | during the annual Chinatown Lunar New Year's parade, he was | ||||||
| 16 | part of the color guard ceremony with the Chinese American | ||||||
| 17 | Veterans of the American Legion Chinatown Post; and
| ||||||
| 18 | WHEREAS, Thomas Lee was a longtime, committed volunteer at | ||||||
| 19 | the Chinese American Museum of Chicago, even prior to its | ||||||
| 20 | founding; he helped with exhibitions, the maintenance of the | ||||||
| 21 | facilities, and any tasks that needed to be completed around | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | the museum; after performing his color guard duties, he would | ||||||
| 2 | join the Chinese American Museum's float at the Chinatown | ||||||
| 3 | Lunar New Year's Parade; and
| ||||||
| 4 | WHEREAS, Thomas Lee was a dedicated member of the Chinese | ||||||
| 5 | American Citizens Alliance and helped with events and anything | ||||||
| 6 | the organization needed; and
| ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, Thomas Lee was a proud member of the Chicago | ||||||
| 8 | Chinatown community who was generous with his time and | ||||||
| 9 | talents; in his free time, in addition to serving as a | ||||||
| 10 | volunteer and a handyman around the community, he enjoyed | ||||||
| 11 | dining in Chinatown restaurants; and
| ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, At the time of his passing, Thomas Lee was | ||||||
| 13 | survived by his three siblings, Susan, Earl, and Mary, and his | ||||||
| 14 | numerous nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 15 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 16 | HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 17 | we mourn the passing of Thomas "Tommy" Lee and extend our | ||||||
| 18 | sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew | ||||||
| 19 | and loved him; and be it further
| ||||||
| 20 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 21 | presented to the family of Thomas Lee as an expression of our | ||||||
| |||||||

| 1 | deepest sympathy.
