| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Kevin | ||||||
| 4 | Sanders, formerly of Plainfield, who passed away on April 18, | ||||||
| 5 | 2013, as a result of the West Fertilizer Plant Co. explosion in | ||||||
| 6 | West, Texas; and
| ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, Kevin Sanders served with Plainfield's emergency | ||||||
| 8 | management agency from 2006 to 2011; in addition to being an | ||||||
| 9 | EMT for the Bruceville-Eddy Volunteer Fire Department in Texas, | ||||||
| 10 | he worked as a vet tech at Hewitt Veterinary Hospital and the | ||||||
| 11 | Waco Animal Emergency Clinic, while teaching part time at | ||||||
| 12 | McLennan Community College in Waco, Texas; and
| ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, Kevin Sanders was in the middle of an EMT class | ||||||
| 14 | when the blast occurred; he immediately responded with the | ||||||
| 15 | first emergency responder team, during which he passed away; | ||||||
| 16 | and
| ||||||
| 17 | WHEREAS, Kevin Sanders graduated with honors from Marist | ||||||
| 18 | High School in Chicago in 1997; he subsequently earned an | ||||||
| 19 | associate's degree in science from Moraine Valley Community | ||||||
| 20 | College, an associate's degree of applied science in veterinary | ||||||
| 21 | technology from Parkland College, and a bachelor's degree in | ||||||
| 22 | animal science from the University of Illinois; and

| 1 | WHEREAS, Kevin Sanders was an altar boy at Sacred Heart | ||||||
| 2 | Church in Palos Hills; and
| ||||||
| 3 | WHEREAS, Kevin Sanders is survived by his wife, Sarah, and | ||||||
| 4 | his son, Reeve; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, The love for Kevin Sanders from his family shone | ||||||
| 6 | forth on April 27, 2013, when he returned from Texas for the | ||||||
| 7 | last time; he was remembered and honored at funeral services on | ||||||
| 8 | May 1, 2013 at the church of his youth, Sacred Heart Church; | ||||||
| 9 | therefore, be it

| 10 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 11 | NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 12 | we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of | ||||||
| 13 | Kevin Sanders; and be it further
| ||||||
| 14 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 15 | presented to the family of Kevin Sanders as an expression of | ||||||
| 16 | our sympathy.
