| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives are pleased to congratulate Steve Bragg on the | ||||||
| 4 | occasion of his retirement as vice president for Finance and | ||||||
| 5 | Planning at Illinois State University on April 30, 2009; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Steve Bragg became interim vice president and then | ||||||
| 7 | vice president of the Finance and Planning division after | ||||||
| 8 | serving as the director of Planning, Policy Studies, and | ||||||
| 9 | Information Systems for four years; and
| ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, Prior to his service as vice president for Finance | ||||||
| 11 | and Planning, Steve Bragg served with the Illinois Board of | ||||||
| 12 | Higher Education, where he worked in Planning and Analytical | ||||||
| 13 | Studies, Academic Affairs, and Fiscal Affairs; and
| ||||||
| 14 | WHEREAS, Under Steve Bragg's leadership, many numerous | ||||||
| 15 | improvements and innovations have been made to Illinois State | ||||||
| 16 | University; he established financing precedents in acquiring | ||||||
| 17 | and developing the university's new Alumni Center in | ||||||
| 18 | partnership with the Illinois State University Foundation and | ||||||
| 19 | private developers; he was instrumental in financing the new | ||||||
| 20 | Student Fitness and Kinesiology and Recreation Center that will | ||||||
| 21 | serve as a model for future development; during his tenure, ISU | ||||||
| 22 | completed its Campus Master Plan and opened several new | ||||||

| 1 | facilities, including the Center for the Performing Arts, the | ||||||
| 2 | College of Business Building, and a research farm in Lexington; | ||||||
| 3 | a comprehensive renovation plan resulted in remodeling | ||||||
| 4 | projects for Schroeder Hall, several residence halls, and | ||||||
| 5 | improvements to almost every campus building; the | ||||||
| 6 | establishment of zone chiller concepts, combined with creative | ||||||
| 7 | energy purchase processes, has saved ISU millions of dollars; | ||||||
| 8 | he also worked to enhance and streamline Human Resources and | ||||||
| 9 | Information Systems processes and led the implementation of a | ||||||
| 10 | four-year tuition guarantee plan prior to the passage of the | ||||||
| 11 | State's "Truth In Tuition" laws; and
| ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, Steve Bragg serves as a model of hard work, | ||||||
| 13 | integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of | ||||||
| 14 | Illinois; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 15 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 16 | NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
| 17 | congratulate Steve Bragg on the occasion of his retirement and | ||||||
| 18 | wish him many happy and healthy retirement years; and be it | ||||||
| 19 | further

| 20 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 21 | presented to Steve Bragg as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
