HOUSE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
Representatives are pleased to recognize milestone events in
the lives of Illinois citizens; and
WHEREAS, Doug Wilson is retiring as Mayor of the City of
Henry after eight years of municipal service; and
WHEREAS, Mayor Wilson, an Ohio native, received his formal
education in Ohio; he graduated from Buckeye High School in
York, Ohio; he graduated as a Diesel Engine Technician from
Ohio Diesel Technical Institute in 1983; he furthered his
education at the University of Akron, where he graduated Cum
Laude and received his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical
Engineering in 1998; and
WHEREAS, After his graduation in 1998, Mayor Wilson moved
to Illinois, where he began working as a Test Center Engineer
at Caterpillar; during his 21 years at Caterpillar, he has held
many leadership positions, most notably as a Multiple Project
Manager and a Diesel Engine Technical Trouble Shooter & Complex
Issue Problem Solver; he has obtained three U.S. Patents,
including one that is still current; and
WHEREAS, Mayor Wilson was elected 2nd Ward Alderman for the

City of Henry in 2011; he was elected Mayor of the City of
Henry in 2014; and
WHEREAS, Leading the City of Henry, Mayor Wilson worked
successfully to eliminate the sewer debt that had been looming
over the town; he focused on keeping the City of Henry peaceful
and friendly; foremost, he drove the Henry Port Project, which
brought industrial development to the area; and
WHEREAS, Mayor Wilson looks forward to retiring in Southern
Ohio with his wife, Romanita, on the seven-acre rural site he
purchased in 1985; therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
we congratulate Mayor Doug Wilson on the occasion of his
retirement and wish him all the best in his future endeavors;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
presented to Mayor Wilson as an expression of our esteem and
respect.
