HOUSE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
Representatives wish to recognize Glenn Nadig for his service
to the northwest Chicagoland community; and
WHEREAS, Glenn Nadig has been operating the Northwest Side
Press and the Reporter since 1958; and
WHEREAS, The Northwest Side Press, first published on May
1, 1940, covers Jefferson Park, Gladstone Park, Norwood Park,
Portage Park, Mayfair, and other area communities; the
Reporter, first published on May 3, 1950, covers Edgebrook,
Sauganash, Wildwood, and Lincolnweed; and
WHEREAS, It is truly a family affair, with Glenn Nadig's
wife, Bette, serving as co-publisher until her passing in 1995,
and their son, Brian, now operating the business with his
father; and
WHEREAS, Glenn Nadig and his family have a long history of
being involved in the community; he, Bette, and Brian have all
served as President of the Jefferson Park Chamber of Commerce,
and his newspapers have employed more than 5,000 neighborhood
children as newspaper carriers; and

WHEREAS, Glenn Nadig's newspapers pride themselves on
being local; they cover stories throughout the Chicagoland area
as well as stories that may be happening on someone's block or
just down the street; therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
recognize and thank Glenn Nadig for his service to the
northwest Chicagoland community; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
presented to Glenn Nadig as an expression of our esteem and
respect.
