| 1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION
| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to congratulate Dr. Tim Bellamey on the | ||||||
| 4 | occasion of his retirement as President of Shawnee Community | ||||||
| 5 | College (SCC) on April 30, 2017; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Dr. Bellamey began his career at SCC as an adjunct | ||||||
| 7 | instructor in history
and government in 1982; he has been a | ||||||
| 8 | full-time employee since 1985; he held several
administrative | ||||||
| 9 | positions prior to being named Vice-President of Instructional | ||||||
| 10 | Services in 2005; he became the college's seventh President in | ||||||
| 11 | August of 2012; and
| ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, Dr. Bellamey's focus has been on increasing | ||||||
| 13 | student success, growth of the
college's career and technical | ||||||
| 14 | education programs, and building partnerships with regional
| ||||||
| 15 | community colleges and universities; under his leadership, the | ||||||
| 16 | college received a 10-year
extension of its accreditation in | ||||||
| 17 | 2014; during his tenure, the college completed construction of | ||||||
| 18 | a
new career and technical education center on the main campus | ||||||
| 19 | in Ullin; he also initiated the
transition to a new enterprise | ||||||
| 20 | system to facilitate improved instructional, student services, | ||||||
| 21 | and
business operations of the college; and
| ||||||
| 22 | WHEREAS, Dr. Bellamey and his wife, Penny, reside in | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | Metropolis; they have a son, Alex, and a daughter, Grace; | ||||||
| 2 | therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 3 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 4 | HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
| 5 | congratulate Dr. Tim Bellamey on his retirement as President of | ||||||
| 6 | Shawnee Community College, and we wish him the best in all his | ||||||
| 7 | future endeavors; and be it further
| ||||||
| 8 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 9 | presented to Dr. Bellamey as an expression of our esteem and | ||||||
| 10 | respect.
