2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of James L. | ||||||
4 | "Jim" Johnson Sr. of Hardin, who passed away on March 9, 2017; | ||||||
5 | and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, James Johnson Sr. was born to Lois Green and John | ||||||
7 | "Jack" Johnson Sr. on July 14, 1952; he graduated from Calhoun | ||||||
8 | High School; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, James Johnson Sr. worked for 39 years for the | ||||||
10 | Calhoun County Highway Department, from where he retired in | ||||||
11 | 2014; he was also a coach of several former Calhoun County | ||||||
12 | women's softball teams, including Big Al's and the Apple | ||||||
13 | Blossom; he had an accomplished career as a basketball referee, | ||||||
14 | where he had a passion both for helping young players better | ||||||
15 | understand the game and mentoring new officials; during his 35 | ||||||
16 | years as a referee, he worked 26 regionals, nine sectionals, | ||||||
17 | seven super sectionals, and officiated the IHSA Girls | ||||||
18 | Basketball State Tournament four times, including the title | ||||||
19 | game in 1997; he worked games in the WIVC, Pike County, Central | ||||||
20 | State Eight, SCC, Mississippi Valley, and South Western | ||||||
21 | conferences; in 2015, he was inducted into the Illinois High | ||||||
22 | School Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame; and

1 | WHEREAS, James Johnson Sr. was preceded in death by his | ||||||
2 | father; his daughters, Jody Johnson and Megan Johnson; and his | ||||||
3 | sister, Carol (Rick) Weishaupt; and

4 | WHEREAS, James Johnson Sr. is survived by his wife, Diane | ||||||
5 | "Punky" Johnson; his mother, Lois Green; his stepmother, | ||||||
6 | Shirley Johnson; his sons, James Johnson Jr. and Mike Anderson; | ||||||
7 | his daughters, Erin Johnson, Christy (Ben) Baalman, and Ashley | ||||||
8 | (Jeff) Anderson; his grandchildren, Kaden, Cayson, Camden, | ||||||
9 | Ryleigh, Raylyn, Kinslee, and Max; his brothers, John (Marilyn) | ||||||
10 | Johnson, Paul Johnson, Allen (Debbie) Johnson, David (Karen) | ||||||
11 | Johnson, Calvin (Kini) Johnson, and Lucky Johnson; his sisters, | ||||||
12 | Shirley (Kevin) Stoner and Crystal Gibson; therefore, be it

14 | HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
15 | mourn the passing of James L. "Jim" Johnson Sr., and extend our | ||||||
16 | sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew | ||||||
17 | and loved him; and be it further

19 | presented to the family of James Johnson Sr. as an expression | ||||||
