HOUSE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
Representatives wish to congratulate Rev. Tom Mulcrone on the
occasion of his retirement as the Chicago Fire Department
chaplain after 30 years of service; and
WHEREAS, Rev. Mulcrone is the third official chaplain in
the history of the Chicago Fire Department; he was appointed by
Cardinal Joseph Bernardin in 1987 and has served through five
mayors and ten fire commissioners; and
WHEREAS, Rev. Mulcrone ministers to firefighters and their
families during both happy and sad times, from special
occasions to deaths in the line-of-duty; and
WHEREAS, Rev. Mulcrone was one of eight kids that grew up
attending Resurrection Parish; he attended Quigley South High
School and Loyola University before entering St. Mary of the
Lake Seminary; and
WHEREAS, Rev. Mulcrone plans to continue his role as
chaplain at St. Mary of Providence, a facility that serves
people with developmental disabilities; his retirement will
become official on June 30, 2017; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
congratulate Rev. Tom Mulcrone on his retirement as the Chicago
Fire Department chaplain after 30 years of service, and we wish
him the best in all his future endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
presented to Rev. Mulcrone as an expression of our esteem and
respect.
