| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives are pleased to congratulate Thomas P. Borchert | ||||||
| 4 | on his retirement as City Manager of the City of Elmhurst; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Thomas Borchert began his career with the City of | ||||||
| 6 | Elmhurst in 1971, when he served as the Assistant Director of | ||||||
| 7 | Public Works; he became the Director of Public Works in 1973, | ||||||
| 8 | and the Assistant City Manager in 1981; in March of 1984 he | ||||||
| 9 | became the City Manager; and
| ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, He is a Credentialed Manager and a registered | ||||||
| 11 | Professional Engineer with the State of Illinois; and
| ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, He received his Bachelor of Science degree in | ||||||
| 13 | Civil Engineering at Valparaiso University and completed | ||||||
| 14 | additional course work at Northwestern University, Midwest | ||||||
| 15 | College of Engineering, the College of DuPage, ICMA University, | ||||||
| 16 | and attended CEU workshops; and
| ||||||
| 17 | WHEREAS, He has served on numerous boards and agencies, | ||||||
| 18 | including the International City Management Association, the | ||||||
| 19 | Metropolitan Section of the Illinois City Management | ||||||
| 20 | Association, the Elmhurst Chamber of Commerce, the DuPage | ||||||
| 21 | Mayors and Managers Conference, and the Elmhurst City Centre; | ||||||

| 2 | WHEREAS, He has served as Director on DuPage Communications | ||||||
| 3 | Board, Board Director of the Community Bank of Elmhurst, past | ||||||
| 4 | member of the Young Life Committee of Eastern DuPage, and as a | ||||||
| 5 | member and Elder of the Yorkfield Presbyterian Church in | ||||||
| 6 | Elmhurst; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 7 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 8 | NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 9 | we congratulate Thomas Borchert on his retirement and wish him | ||||||
| 10 | the best in all his future endeavors; and be it further
| ||||||
| 11 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 12 | presented to Thomas Borchert as a symbol of our respect and | ||||||
| 13 | esteem.
