| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives are pleased to congratulate the Maine South | ||||||
| 4 | High School varsity dance team, the Hawkettes, on winning the | ||||||
| 5 | 2017 Universal Dance Association (UDA) National Dance Team | ||||||
| 6 | Championship for high kick; and
| ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, The UDA National Dance Team Championship took | ||||||
| 8 | place at the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida from | ||||||
| 9 | February 3, 2017 through February 5, 2017; 34 teams competed in | ||||||
| 10 | this annual competition; and
| ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, The Maine South Hawkettes are one of the top dance | ||||||
| 12 | teams in the State; they also won the national high kick | ||||||
| 13 | championship in 2011, and finished second in nationals in high | ||||||
| 14 | kick in 2016 and 2015; in addition to national championships | ||||||
| 15 | the Hawkettes won the inaugural IHSA dance State championship | ||||||
| 16 | in 2013; they won the pre-IHSA state titles an amazing 21 times | ||||||
| 17 | between 1979 and 2012; and
| ||||||
| 18 | WHEREAS, The Maine South Hawkettes also finished sixth in | ||||||
| 19 | large varsity poms; and
| ||||||
| 20 | WHEREAS, The Hawkettes are Isabelle Austriaco, Jacqueline | ||||||
| 21 | Beck, Meghan Breslin, Abby Dietlin, Maya Filipczak, Maggie | ||||||

| 11 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 12 | HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
| 13 | congratulate the Maine South High School varsity dance team, | ||||||
| 14 | the Hawkettes, on winning the Universal Dance Association (UDA) | ||||||
| 15 | National Dance Team Championship for high kick, and that we | ||||||
| 16 | recognize their hard work, dedication to excellence, and proud | ||||||
| 17 | representation of their school and the State; and be it further
| ||||||
| 18 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 19 | presented to Coach Graney as a symbol of our esteem and respect | ||||||
| 20 | for a job well done.
