1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION
| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives wish to congratulate the Calumet City Lions | ||||||
4 | Club as it celebrates its 75th year of community service; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, The Calumet City Lions Club was chartered on | ||||||
6 | October 16, 1939; it is part of Lions Clubs International,
the | ||||||
7 | world's largest service organization with more than 1.3 million
| ||||||
8 | members worldwide; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Since its founding, the Calumet City Lions Club | ||||||
10 | has collected in excess of $1.5 million to
assist the blind, | ||||||
11 | visually handicapped, deaf, and hearing impaired, in addition | ||||||
12 | to
many other worthy local community projects; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, 21 club members have been recognized as Melvin | ||||||
14 | Jones Fellows, the
highest honor in Lionism, and 3 members have | ||||||
15 | served as Governor of District
1-A, home of the Lionism | ||||||
16 | movement that was started in downtown Chicago in
1917; and
| ||||||
17 | WHEREAS, Current club members, both male and female, range | ||||||
18 | in age from 22 to
98, and, as a group, have accumulated more | ||||||
19 | than 1,000 years of service as Lions; therefore, be it
| ||||||
20 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |

1 | NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
2 | congratulate the
members of the Calumet City Illinois Lions | ||||||
3 | Club on their admirable achievements
of service and their 75th | ||||||
4 | year of community service; and be it further

5 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
6 | presented to the Calumet
City Lions Club as a symbol of our | ||||||
7 | esteem and respect.
