HOUSE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Illinois' elected Jewish leaders must stand up in
defense of Israel and the entire Jewish population throughout
the State at all times, not only during times of divisive and
hateful speech; and
WHEREAS, Israel stands as the singular beacon of liberal
democracy in a part of the world where democracy does not exist
and is under constant threat from attack by neighboring
religious zealots out to destroy Israel; and
WHEREAS, Anti-Semitism is on the rise and must be
confronted with a strong voice and continued support against
hateful rhetoric; in the last two years, more than half of
religious attacks were committed against American Jews, and
there has been an increase in anti-Semitic incidents;
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
we hold firm in our support for the democratic state of Israel
and Illinois' Jewish population and our unwavering
condemnation of hateful and divisive anti-Semitic rhetoric;
and be it further

RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
delivered to all Illinois Constitutional Officers, the Speaker
and Minority Leader of the Illinois House of Representatives,
and the President and Minority Leader of the Illinois Senate.
