HOUSE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Esaw
Peterson, who passed away on February 17, 2019; and
WHEREAS, Esaw Peterson was born on December 23, 1944; he
served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, where
he obtained the rank of Sergeant and was awarded several medals
and ribbons of honor; and
WHEREAS, Esaw Peterson moved to Bloomington to work for
State Farm Insurance and retired after more than 30 years of
service; and
WHEREAS, Esaw Peterson was a true community leader and a
generous person who gave much to all of McLean County; he
served on the McLean County Board and was chairman of the
Justice Committee; he also served on the Bloomington Board of
Elections Commission, where he oversaw elections and their
operations in Bloomington; he was a member of the McLean County
Republican Party, the Lincoln Club of McLean County, and Wayman
AME Church of Bloomington for many years; and
WHEREAS, Esaw Peterson is survived by his wife, Cleo; his
daughters, Rissa and Laurie; and his many other family members;

therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
we mourn the passing of Esaw Peterson and extend our sincere
condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
him; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
presented to the family of Esaw Peterson as an expression of
our deepest sympathy.
