HOUSE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, It is antithetical to the principles of American
democracy for the government of the United States to use drones
to conduct criminal investigations of U.S. citizens without a
warrant; and
WHEREAS, U.S. Attorney General, Eric Holder, recently
opined before the Senate Judiciary Committee that targeted
killings of American citizens by drones on U.S. soil might be
justified, but refused to release the legal memoranda
supporting that position; therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
we urge the Illinois congressional delegation to eliminate the
threat of drones being used to conduct warrantless searches of
U.S. citizens by supporting the passage of the Preserving
Freedom from Unwarranted Surveillance Act (S. 3287); and be it
further
RESOLVED, That we urge U.S. Attorney General Holder to
publicly release the legal memoranda supporting the use of
drone strikes against American citizens on U.S. soil; and be it
further

delivered to the members of the Illinois congressional
delegation and the Attorney General of the United States.
