| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to congratulate Ryan Patrick Curran on the | ||||||
| 4 | occasion of achieving the coveted rank of Eagle Scout; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Ryan Curran achieved the Arrow of Light Award, the | ||||||
| 6 | highest award bestowed in Cub Scouts, on March 6, 2009; since | ||||||
| 7 | he earned the award, he has worked diligently to advance | ||||||
| 8 | through the various scouting ranks; and
| ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, Ryan Curran enjoys teaching young scouts in the | ||||||
| 10 | community about the skills and values he has learned throughout | ||||||
| 11 | his time in Scouts; and
| ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, Ryan Curran has been recognized by his teachers | ||||||
| 13 | and principals for his demonstration of good citizenship and | ||||||
| 14 | leadership in middle and high school; and
| ||||||
| 15 | WHEREAS, Ryan Curran was awarded the Chicago Rush | ||||||
| 16 | Sportsmanship Award for the 2011 heavyweight football season; | ||||||
| 17 | this award is given to the player that exemplifies and | ||||||
| 18 | demonstrates good sportsmanship, leadership, and heart both on | ||||||
| 19 | and off the field; and
| ||||||
| 20 | WHEREAS, The values that Ryan Curran has learned in | ||||||

| 1 | scouting have helped him to become a more secure, confident, | ||||||
| 2 | and caring person; and
| ||||||
| 3 | WHEREAS, For Ryan Curran's Eagle Scout project, he | ||||||
| 4 | installed a United States of America flag pole station for the | ||||||
| 5 | Village of Spring Grove at Thelan Park in Spring Grove; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Ryan Curran learned the importance of respecting | ||||||
| 7 | the flag and following the proper rules and protocols when | ||||||
| 8 | handling the American flag; and
| ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, Ryan Curran felt that installing a flag pole would | ||||||
| 10 | allow others in his community to show the same respect for the | ||||||
| 11 | flag that he learned throughout his years in Scouts; therefore, | ||||||
| 12 | be it

| 13 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 14 | NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 15 | we congratulate Ryan Curran on obtaining the coveted rank of | ||||||
| 16 | Eagle Scout and wish him continued success in the future; and | ||||||
| 17 | be it further
