| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to congratulate Lena Moreland on the | ||||||
| 4 | occasion of her retirement as City Clerk for the Village of | ||||||
| 5 | Bellwood; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Lena Moreland's office duties and | ||||||
| 7 | responsibilities are diverse and require a considerable
amount | ||||||
| 8 | of dedication and commitment to ensure that the Village | ||||||
| 9 | conforms to
government and ethic rules and regulations and | ||||||
| 10 | functions effectively; and
| ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, Lena Moreland has worked for the Village for 35 | ||||||
| 12 | years and has served in the
capacity of Village Clerk for 16; | ||||||
| 13 | under her leadership, access
to village ordinances and other | ||||||
| 14 | government regulations have been implemented
and updated to | ||||||
| 15 | ensure transparency; and
| ||||||
| 16 | WHEREAS, First elected to office in 2001, Lena Moreland | ||||||
| 17 | received the Certified Clerk
designation from the Illinois | ||||||
| 18 | Municipal Clerk's Association; she serves on the Fire
and | ||||||
| 19 | Police Pension Board and as Village Collector, Corporate Seal | ||||||
| 20 | Keeper,
Board Secretary, and Record Keeper of all official | ||||||
| 21 | village meetings; she also
coordinates two of the Village's | ||||||
| 22 | main events, the Annual Family Day, and
the Senior Valentine | ||||||

| 1 | Ball, both of which are always huge successes; and
| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, For 13 years, Lena Moreland has served as a member | ||||||
| 3 | of the Bellwood Neighborhood
Watch Scholarship Fund | ||||||
| 4 | Corporation and Youth Director; she has coordinated the Annual | ||||||
| 5 | Family Day Picnic, PACE Bus Senior Services, and the
Annual | ||||||
| 6 | Youth Summer Program which provides summer employment for | ||||||
| 7 | Bellwood
youth; and
| ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, Lena Moreland's dedication and love for the | ||||||
| 9 | citizens keeps her actively involved in
the community; her | ||||||
| 10 | prime motivation for serving the community is that she
believes | ||||||
| 11 | that members of government work for the people; and
| ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, Lena Moreland and her husband of 50 years, | ||||||
| 13 | Charles, are the proud parents of
two daughters, Jennifer | ||||||
| 14 | (Robert) and Janel (Daryl); they have three grandchildren,
| ||||||
| 15 | Robert Jr., Jazmyn, and Jocelyn; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 16 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 17 | HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
| 18 | congratulate Lena Moreland on her retirement as City Clerk for | ||||||
| 19 | the Village of Bellwood, and we wish her the best in all her | ||||||
| 20 | future endeavors; and be it further
| ||||||
| 21 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
