| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to congratulate the Calhoun High School | ||||||
| 4 | girls volleyball team, the Warriors, on winning the 2024-2025 | ||||||
| 5 | Illinois High School Association (IHSA) Class 1A Girls | ||||||
| 6 | Volleyball State Championship for the first time in school | ||||||
| 7 | history; and
| ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, The Warriors first achieved victory against | ||||||
| 9 | Cissna Park Senior High School 25-16, 25-23 in the State | ||||||
| 10 | Semifinals; the team then defeated Stockton High School 25-17, | ||||||
| 11 | 25-16 in the State Finals, despite both sets being tied 10-10 | ||||||
| 12 | at one point; the team made a number of memorable plays in the | ||||||
| 13 | process, including senior Joy Hurley leading the team with 10 | ||||||
| 14 | kills, senior Kate Zipprich making six kills and five solo | ||||||
| 15 | blocks, and junior Stella Gress leading with 12 digs; and
| ||||||
| 16 | WHEREAS, The Warriors' success marks the first time the | ||||||
| 17 | team has won the State Super-Sectionals and the State Finals; | ||||||
| 18 | in doing so, the team secured a triple crown for Calhoun High | ||||||
| 19 | School, making it the first public school in Illinois to | ||||||
| 20 | attain state championships across three sports in girls | ||||||
| 21 | volleyball, basketball (2015, 2016), and softball (2016); the | ||||||
| 22 | team also broke a school record with its stellar 39-2 record | ||||||
| 23 | this season; and

| 5 | Lucy Hurley, Lilly Pelletier, and Annie Wilson, juniors Anabel | ||||||

| 7 | Leila Schulte, and Mary Squier, and seniors Audrey Gilman, | ||||||
| 8 | Josie Hoagland, Joy Hurley, Abby Johnes, State Final | ||||||
| 9 | All-Tournament Athlete Lacy Pohlman, Caydence Sievers, and | ||||||

| 16 | community; therefore, be it

| 17 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 18 | HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
