| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives are pleased to congratulate East Peoria | ||||||
| 4 | Community High School senior Lucas Joseph on the occasion of | ||||||
| 5 | winning the Class 2A 220-pound Wrestling Championship at the | ||||||
| 6 | individual State of Illinois tournament; and
| ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, Lucas Joseph is the youngest son of Rick and | ||||||
| 8 | Leanne Joseph of East Peoria; and
| ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, One year ago, Lucas Joseph fell one point short of | ||||||
| 10 | a win in the finals, making this year's victory as a senior all | ||||||
| 11 | the more rewarding; it also allows him to have a 2-year record | ||||||
| 12 | of 85-1 and a one-year record of 41-0; and
| ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, After a scoreless first period, Lucas Joseph gave | ||||||
| 14 | up an escape, only to follow with a takedown 10 seconds later | ||||||
| 15 | to pull ahead 2-1; the East Peoria senior then turned back | ||||||
| 16 | several single-leg takedown attempts by his opponent, allowing | ||||||
| 17 | only an escape for a 2-2 tie to start the 3rd period; and
| ||||||
| 18 | WHEREAS, Lucas Joseph kept his opponent scoreless in the | ||||||
| 19 | third period, exhibiting great persistence and determination; | ||||||
| 20 | and

| 1 | WHEREAS, The whole East Peoria community is proud of Lucas | ||||||
| 2 | Joseph's State win and celebrated with him on February 17, 2013 | ||||||
| 3 | with a community celebration at East Peoria High School; | ||||||

| 5 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 6 | NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 7 | we congratulate Lucas Joseph of his State tournament win, | ||||||
| 8 | bringing victorious recognition to the success of East Peoria | ||||||
| 9 | Community High School's wrestling team and their coach, Phil | ||||||
| 10 | Johns; and be it further
