2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives are pleased to congratulate Rockford Alderman | ||||||
4 | Victory Bell on the occasion of his retirement; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Victory Bell is a graduate of West High School and | ||||||
6 | is retired from Ameritech; he currently serves as a manager at | ||||||
7 | the Illinois Secretary of State Facility in Rockford; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Victory Bell was elected to serve as the 5th Ward | ||||||
9 | Alderman on the Rockford City Council in 1971, making him the | ||||||
10 | first African American to be elected as an Alderman in | ||||||
11 | Rockford; in addition, his 37 years of service on the Rockford | ||||||
12 | City Council makes him the longest serving Alderman in the | ||||||
13 | State of Illinois, a testament to his dedication to the | ||||||
14 | citizens of Rockford; and

15 | WHEREAS, Victory Bell is a member of the Pilgrim Baptist | ||||||
16 | Church and the NAACP; and
| ||||||
17 | WHEREAS, Victory Bell has been included in the Who's Who | ||||||
18 | Among African American Leaders and was selected as one of the | ||||||
19 | most influential leaders in the Rockford area by the Rockford | ||||||
20 | Register-Star; and

1 | WHEREAS, Victory Bell and his wife, Carol, have six | ||||||
2 | children and five grandchildren; therefore, be it
| ||||||
3 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
4 | NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
5 | congratulate Victory Bell on the occasion of his retirement, | ||||||
6 | thank him for his many years of service to the citizens of | ||||||
7 | Rockford and the State of Illinois, and wish him continued | ||||||
8 | success and happiness in the future; and be it further
| ||||||
9 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
10 | presented to Victory Bell as a symbol of our esteem and | ||||||
11 | respect.
