HOUSE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
Representatives wish to congratulate Norwood Park Fire Chief
Kevin Stenson, on the occasion of his retirement in January of
2017; and
WHEREAS, Chief Stenson began his career with Norwood Park
as an emergency responder; and
WHEREAS, Chief Stenson volunteered along with two
colleagues in 2005 to drive a squad car to New Orleans,
Louisiana to assist with Hurricane Katrina relief efforts and
responding to local emergencies; he arrived three days after
the hurricane hit, and spent several days outside camping in
tents in dry patches of land with other firefighters, until a
fire station opened following flood clean-up and the crews
could move in; and
WHEREAS, Chief Stenson was promoted to fire lieutenant in
1996, a position he held until 2002 when he became deputy fire
chief; he was promoted to Chief in 2005; and
WHEREAS, Chief Stenson will be joined in retirement by his
wife, Maggie, when she retires from her career as a nurse next
year; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we,
along with his family, friends, and co-workers, congratulate
Norwood Park Fire Chief Kevin Stenson on the occasion of his
retirement, and thank him for his years of dedicated public
service to the Norwood Park community, and the State of
Illinois; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
presented to Chief Kevin Stenson as an expression of our esteem
and respect.
