HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Aubrey
4Latrell O'Bryant Sr. of North Chicago, who passed away on
5January 17, 2023; and
6 WHEREAS, Aubrey O'Bryant was born to Clarence "Skip" and
7Lavora "Poochie" O'Bryant in Waukegan on January 25, 1969; he
8was educated in the school districts of both Waukegan and
9North Chicago before graduating from Carmel High School in
10Mundelein in 1987; he joined the U.S. Marine Corps, serving as
11a reservist for three years; he attended Lake Forest College;
12he married Melinda Crump in 1996; and
13 WHEREAS, Aubrey O'Bryant had many titles and wore many
14hats, including serving the North Chicago Police Department;
15he also worked at North Chicago Community High School (NCCHS),
16where he became known as "Coach Brey" and "Unc" to many
17students; he absolutely loved his job and being around the
18students; he enjoyed being a part of both their athletic and
19personal lives in order to help in any way he could and to have
20a positive impact; he loved coaching, no matter the sport; and
21 WHEREAS, Aubrey O'Bryant enjoyed spending time with his
22family and friends, making sure everyone had a good time; he

1loved fishing, cooking, and cleaning his truck; he was always
2ready for a party hosted by his favorite DJ, DJ X; he also
3loved dogs, and his latest hobby was training his dog, PAETO,
4with his friend, Shaan Huntley; and
5 WHEREAS, Aubrey O'Bryant went by many names, including
6"Big Brey", "Dad", and "Unc", but he especially enjoyed going
7by "Papi", because he adored his grandchildren; and
8 WHEREAS, Aubrey O'Bryant was preceded in death by his son,
9Philip Taylor O'Bryant; his grandmother, Clara Adams; and his
10grandfathers, Floyd Adams and Clarence O'Bryant; and
11 WHEREAS, Aubrey O'Bryant is survived by his wife, Melinda
12"Slim" Crump-O'Bryant; his children, Aubrey O'Bryant II,
13Mariah Crump-O'Bryant, Paige O'Bryant, and Cydney O'Bryant;
14his parents; his grandmother, Betty O'Bryant; his siblings,
15Ramara O'Bryant and Evan O'Bryant; his granddaughters,
16Aubrielle "Yella" O'Bryant, Madison "Cheeky" O'Bryant, Melody
17"Skrimp" Neyland, and Malaiya "2Pac" Neyland; his grandsons,
18Damarian "Boog" O'Bryant, Parker O'Bryant, Zandon O'Bryant,
19Kyree "Tank" O'Bryant, Elijah "Eli" O'Bryant, Landon "Keebler"
20O'Bryant, and Nathan "Nate Dawg" O'Bryant; his parents-in-law,
21Lenory and Theoplis Brown; his five sisters-in-law; and a host
22of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and longtime
23friends; therefore, be it

1 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
2HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
3we mourn the passing of Aubrey Latrell O'Bryant Sr. and extend
4our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who
5knew and loved him; and be it further
6 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
7presented to the family of Aubrey O'Bryant as an expression of
8our deepest sympathy.
