2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Dr. Basil | ||||||
4 | Anthony Moskoff of Zeigler, who passed away on November 25, | ||||||
5 | 2014; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Dr. Basil Moskoff was born in Zeigler on July 18, | ||||||
7 | 1927 to Anton Basil and Julia Katherine (nee Raski) Moskoff; he | ||||||
8 | graduated from Zeigler High School (now Zeigler-Royalton High | ||||||
9 | School) in 1945; he served in the United States Army during | ||||||
10 | World War II; he graduated from Southern Illinois University | ||||||
11 | and then from the University of Illinois College of Medicine in | ||||||
12 | 1953;
he married Betty Jean Roth on October 10, 1953 in | ||||||
13 | Chicago; and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, Dr. Basil Moskoff practiced medicine in Zeigler | ||||||
15 | for 48 years until his retirement in 2001; he was a charter | ||||||
16 | member of and board certified by the American Academy of Family | ||||||
17 | Physicians; he was also a member of the Franklin County Medical | ||||||
18 | Society and the Illinois State Medical Society; and
| ||||||
19 | WHEREAS, Dr. Basil Moskoff was a member of Zeigler American | ||||||
20 | Legion, Patrick McClellan Post 177; he was also a member of St. | ||||||
21 | Aloysius-Sacred Heart Parish in Royalton, the Franklin County | ||||||
22 | Country Club, the Eagles Lodge in Zeigler, the Rotary Club of |

1 | Herrin, and the Knights of Columbus in Herrin; he enjoyed | ||||||
2 | fishing, golfing, spending time with family and friends, and | ||||||
3 | grilling and hosting family dinners; he was affectionately | ||||||
4 | known as "Dedo" or "Dr. Bill"; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Dr. Basil Moskoff was preceded in death by his | ||||||
6 | parents and an infant brother; and
| ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, Dr. Basil Moskoff is survived by his wife, Betty; | ||||||
8 | his 4 sons, Bill Moskoff (Milagros Romero), Bob (Elaine) | ||||||
9 | Moskoff, Tony Moskoff (Michele Harbin), and John (Kimberly) | ||||||
10 | Moskoff; his 2 daughters, Julia Moskoff (Doug McDonald) and | ||||||
11 | Mary Rawlings; his 5 grandchildren, Natalie McDonald, Ryan and | ||||||
12 | Richard Rawlings, and Bobbi Jo and Boris Moskoff; his 2 | ||||||
13 | brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law, Richard and Pat Roth and | ||||||
14 | family and Mary Joan and Fred Barlow and family, and Jack Roth; | ||||||
15 | cousins of the Moskoff family, Larry and Bill; cousins of the | ||||||
16 | Raski family, John and his sister, Mary Kay Grezlak; and | ||||||
17 | Michael Petroski; therefore, be it

18 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
19 | NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
20 | mourn the passing of Dr. Basil Anthony Moskoff, and extend our | ||||||
21 | sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew | ||||||
22 | and loved him; and be it further
