| 2 | WHEREAS, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. was founded on | ||||||
| 3 | January 5, 1911, in Bloomington, Indiana, on the campus of | ||||||
| 4 | Indiana University; 2011 is the 100th anniversary of the | ||||||
| 5 | organization; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. was founded | ||||||
| 7 | nearly fifty years after the end of slavery; and
| ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, The Fraternity fashioned Achievement as its | ||||||
| 9 | fundamental purpose and united college men of culture, | ||||||
| 10 | patriotism, and honor in a Bond of Fraternity; and
| ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, Kappa Alpha Psi sponsors programs providing | ||||||
| 12 | community service, social welfare, and academic scholarship; | ||||||
| 13 | and
| ||||||
| 14 | WHEREAS, The Chicago Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi | ||||||
| 15 | Fraternity, Inc. was chartered as the first Alumni Chapter on | ||||||
| 16 | April 17, 1919, in the City of Chicago; and
| ||||||
| 17 | WHEREAS, The Chicago Metro Chapters of Kappa Alpha Psi was | ||||||
| 18 | established in 1984 and now consists of Alumni Chapters from | ||||||
| 19 | Chicago, Gary, Indiana, Evanston, Chicago Heights, Waukegan, | ||||||
| 20 | Maywood-Wheaton, Harvey-Markham, and Richton Park, and | ||||||

| 1 | Undergraduate Chapters of Theta, Iota, Epsilon Omicron, Zeta | ||||||
| 2 | Alpha, Theta Zeta, Iota Lambda, and Kappa Phi; and
| ||||||
| 3 | WHEREAS, The Chicago Metro Chapters celebrate the | ||||||
| 4 | Fraternity's 100th anniversary during its 27th Annual Chicago | ||||||
| 5 | Metro Founders' Day Celebration on January 15, 2011; therefore, | ||||||
| 6 | be it

| 7 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 8 | NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 9 | we recognize the past and ongoing contributions of the Chicago | ||||||
| 10 | Metro Chapters of the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.; and be | ||||||
| 11 | it further
| ||||||
| 12 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 13 | presented to a representative of the Chicago Metro Chapters of | ||||||
| 14 | Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. as a symbol of our respect and | ||||||
