Bill Title: Amends the Department of Public Health Powers and Duties Law of the Civil Administrative Code of Illinois. Provides that the Department of Public Health shall develop a training and education program on public playground safety issues. Provides that the program may be presented annually and may be available through the Department's website. Provides that the Department shall adopt rules, based on the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission's standards, to develop standards for public playground equipment by June 30, 2011. Makes other changes.

2 | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
| ||||||
3 | represented in the General Assembly:

4 | Section 5. The Department of Public Health Powers and | ||||||
5 | Duties Law of the
Civil Administrative Code of Illinois is | ||||||
6 | amended by adding Section 2310-655 as follows:

7 | (20 ILCS 2310/2310-655 new) | ||||||
8 | Sec. 2310-655. Technical assistance on playgrounds. The | ||||||
9 | Department of Public Health shall provide technical assistance | ||||||
10 | materials based on guidelines or standards such as the U.S. | ||||||
11 | Consumer Product Safety Commission's guidelines, the U.S. | ||||||
12 | Access Board final guidelines, or the standards of the American | ||||||
13 | Society for Testing and Materials by June 30, 2011. The | ||||||
14 | materials may be available on the Department's website. | ||||||
15 | Nothing in this Section shall be construed as imposing any | ||||||
16 | mandate concerning equipment in restaurants or dwellings.
