Bill Title: Amends the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity Law of the Civil Administrative Code of Illinois. Provides that the Department has the power and duty to encourage convention center boards throughout the State to provide convention center space at a reduced rate or without charge to local farmers' markets to use the space to hold the market when inclement weather prevents holding the market at its regular outdoor location.

AN ACT concerning State government.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
| ||||
represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Department of Commerce and Economic | ||||
Opportunity Law of the
Civil Administrative Code of Illinois is | ||||
amended by adding Section 605-1015 as follows:

(20 ILCS 605/605-1015 new) | ||||
Sec. 605-1015. Farmers' markets held in convention | ||||
centers. To encourage convention center boards and other public | ||||
or private entities that operate convention centers throughout | ||||
the State to provide convention center space at a reduced rate | ||||
or without charge to local farmers' markets to use the space to | ||||
hold the market when inclement weather prevents holding the | ||||
market at its regular outdoor location. For purposes of this | ||||
Section, "farmers' market has the meaning set forth in the | ||||
Farmers' Market Technology Improvement Program Act.
