20 ILCS 1310/3.3 new

Amends the Domestic Violence Shelters Act. Requires the Department of Human Services to prioritize funding to domestic violence shelters and service programs that are equipped to provide shelter assistance to victims of domestic violence and their pets.

1 AN ACT concerning State government.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Domestic Violence Shelters Act is amended by
5adding Section 3.3 as follows:
6 (20 ILCS 1310/3.3 new)
7 Sec. 3.3. Priority for pet friendly domestic violence
8shelters. The Department shall prioritize funding to domestic
9violence shelters and service programs that are equipped to
10provide shelter assistance to victims of domestic violence and
11their pets over domestic violence shelters and service programs
12that are not equipped to provide shelter assistance to victims
13of domestic violence and their pets.
